Ecotech Yorkshire delivered a major upgrade for Jubilee Court Care Home’s Gas hot water storage system, increasing energy efficiency from 68% to 95% with a new Lochinvar installation, all while maintaining uninterrupted hot water access throughout.
As the care home expanded, so did its hot water requirements. Ecotech Yorkshire installed larger, high-efficiency gas-fired water heaters alongside a custom water filtration and softening system, essential for performance in this hard water area.
To ensure residents experienced no disruption, the team kept the old system running while relocating and installing the new water heaters, flue system, and upgraded gas supply on the opposite side of the building, ensuring a seamless transition and compliance.
As mentioned, one of the biggest challenges was maintaining uninterrupted hot water supply in a live care environment, where downtime simply wasn't an option. We overcame this by carefully sequencing the installation, leaving the existing system fully operational while relocating and installing the new water heaters and flue system on the opposite side of the building. We also upgraded the gas supply to meet higher demand and added a water softener to address hard water conditions. Coordination and timing were critical, and we ensured residents and staff were never affected during the switchover.
Jubilee Court Care Home now benefits from a significantly more efficient and robust hot water system, tailored to support its expanding capacity and higher daily demand. By upgrading from a 68% to a 95% efficiency rating and incorporating a water softener to combat local hard water, the system ensures reduced energy use, improved reliability, and lower running costs. Most importantly, these improvements were delivered with zero disruption to care services, safeguarding resident comfort throughout the transition.
