Ecotech Yorkshire delivered a full heating and hot water system overhaul for Brigantia Learning Trust, relocating the plant room and installing energy-efficient boilers integrated with an air source heat pump, achieving a 97.6% system efficiency and a Seasonal CoP of 3.4.
The Trust’s outdated 70% efficient heating system was replaced with the latest boilers and an intelligent BMS (Building Management System), enabling smart, tariff-based switching between energy sources for maximum cost savings.
With a tight schedule and significant system rerouting required, our phased plan ensured the new plant room was installed smoothly and on time, avoiding any disruption to operations across the Trust’s facilities.
As mentioned, relocating the plant room without interrupting ongoing educational operations was a complex logistical task. Utilities had to be rerouted within tight spatial and time constraints, and any disruption to services needed to be avoided. To manage this, we implemented a highly detailed schedule of works and close coordination with the Trust’s facilities team. This allowed us to reroute pipework and install new infrastructure efficiently and safely, while ensuring that building services continued uninterrupted throughout the project.
Brigantia Learning Trust now operates with a high-performance, intelligently controlled heating and hot water system that maximises efficiency and adaptability. The combination of new 97.6% efficient boilers, a Seasonal CoP of 3.4 from the integrated heat pump, and a tariff-based control strategy ensures the Trust always uses the most cost-effective energy source. With the successful relocation of the plant room and seamless system integration, the Trust is now future-proofed for long-term energy and operational savings.
