It pays to be prepared - switch on your office boiler before winter (we recommend at the end of September or beginning of October). It'll only take 5 minutes for your boiler to warm up, and you'll be able to check for any issues before the colder months when you and your staff will really need the heating on.

A lot of people underestimate the impact this can have on your office energy bills.

Although you might upset some of the people in the office, the World Health Organisation says that 18 degrees is enough for healthy adults, with slightly higher temperatures needed for the very old or young. Tell your staff to dress warm and save yourself some serious money.

Don't leave your devices on standby, be sure to switch these off instead as you don't want to be using energy for something you're not making use of.

This includes kitchen supplies, computers, and even printers - especially over the weekend if your office isn’t even open and in use. You can save your office a lot of money by getting into the habit of switching off your devices.

Keeping the lights on in your business isn’t cheap - up to 40% of the energy your business uses could go on lighting your premises. So if you want to really cut down those energy bills you should swap out your incandescent filament bulbs with modern LEDs, CFL or halogens. The upfront cost of these can be expensive but in the long run they save your office money and last a lot longer.

You could also consider motion sensored lighting in the corridors and toilets, so lights are only turned on when needed.

If your office is lucky enough to have both a microwave and an oven, try and push your staff to use the microwave, they use less energy than ovens because they only heat the food, not the air around it.

A lot of you are against getting your boilers serviced regularly due to the cost of the service and they often believe it to be a waste of time and money - this could not be further from the truth.

As part of your servicing, your engineer will carry out all necessary checks to ensure that your boiler is running efficiently, which can actually save you money over time. By improving your office boiler’s efficiency your boiler will use less energy to run, and will subsequently keep your energy bills low. A boiler service is cheaper than replacing your boiler!

Highly recommend these guys, don't look anywhere else.We have been on the Gold Domestic Service plan for about two years with Ecotech and they have been very quick at coming out to fix our 25 year old boiler. We decided this year to get the guys to fit a new combi boiler for us.From start to finish from contacting Dianne, getting a quote from Ryan to complete install everything was explained fully as to what was going to happen, with a range of quotes and very good prices.Sam and Luke fitted the new boiler and were highly professional, took pride in their work and asked us where we wanted things if there was an option and cleaned everything up afterwards.Best upgrade we have had done to our house and fitted by highly professional and qualified staff.The guys also fitted a complex heating and air conditioning system in the large training academy where I work to the same high standard.They are capable of both domestic and commercial work.Spot on guys, top work all round, very pleased.PS. make sure they get cups of tea and bacon rolls!
