At Ecotech Yorkshire Heating & Plumbing we value our customers' and future customers' privacy. In particular, we want you to know that Ecotech Yorkshire Heating & Plumbing do not trade email lists with other companies for marketing purposes. In this Privacy Policy, we will detail how we collect, use and protect your personal information, including the tools we use to run our website and advertising.

How we collect information about you

We collect information from you in the following ways:

When you interact with us directly. This could be if you ask us about our products and services. This includes when you phone us, visit our website, or get in touch through the post or in person.
When you interact with us through third parties. This could be if you make a booking through a third party that we work with and you provide consent for your personal information to be shared with us.
When you visit our website. We gather general information which might include which pages you visit most often and which services, events or information is of most interest to you. We may also track which pages you visit when you click on links in emails from us. We also use "cookies" and similar technologies, including Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads, to help our site run effectively and to measure and improve our advertising.
When you click through from an online advert. If you arrive at our website by clicking a Google Ads advert, we and Google may record that this happened, along with the search term or advert that led you here, so that we can measure how effective our advertising is.
When you call us. If you call a phone number shown on our website, that number may be a dedicated tracking number provided by our call tracking or Google Ads system, so that we can measure which pages or adverts generate phone enquiries. See "Call Tracking" below.

We use this information to personalise the way our website is presented when you visit, to make improvements, and to ensure we provide the best service and experience for you. Wherever possible we use anonymous or aggregated information which does not identify individual visitors to our website.

Google Ads, Conversion Tracking and Call Tracking

We use Google Ads to advertise our services, and Google Tag Manager (GTM) to manage the tags and tracking codes that run on our website. This section explains what that involves.

Conversion tracking and data signals

When you click on one of our Google Ads adverts and go on to contact us — for example by submitting a form, calling us, or requesting a quote — Google Ads records this as a "conversion". This helps us understand which adverts and keywords are working, so we can spend our advertising budget more effectively.

Where enabled, we may also use Google's enhanced conversions or similar data signals features. These allow us to securely share limited, hashed (encrypted, non-readable) contact information you have already given us — such as your email address or phone number — with Google, so that conversions can be matched more accurately. This information is hashed before it leaves our systems and cannot be read by Google in its original form. We do not upload or share this data for any purpose other than measuring the effectiveness of our own advertising, and we do not sell it to Google or any other party.

Remarketing

We may use Google Ads remarketing to show adverts to people who have previously visited our website, based on anonymous browser or device identifiers set by Google. You can control how Google uses this information, and opt out of personalised advertising, through Google's Ad Settings at adssettings.google.com.

Call tracking

Some of the telephone numbers displayed on our website are dynamic tracking numbers, provided through Google Tag Manager, rather than our main office number. These numbers redirect to us in exactly the same way as our standard number. We use them only to understand which webpage or advertising campaign led to a phone enquiry, so we can measure the performance of our marketing. Calls may be recorded for training, quality and enquiry-handling purposes; if so, this will be confirmed by an automated message at the start of the call.

Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager itself does not collect personal information. It is a container that loads other tools — such as Google Analytics and Google Ads — on our behalf, based on rules we control. Any data collection described in this policy that happens via Google Analytics or Google Ads may be delivered through Google Tag Manager.

Sharing your Information

The personal information we collect about you will mainly be used by our staff so that they can support you. We will never sell your personal information to organisations so that they can contact you for any marketing activities, nor do we sell any information about your web browsing activity.

We may, however, share your information with our trusted partners and suppliers who work with us, or on our behalf, to deliver our products and services — including website hosting, analytics and advertising platforms such as Google. Processing of this information is always carried out under our instruction, or under that provider's own privacy terms where they act as an independent controller (as Google does for Google Ads and Google Analytics). We make sure that our partners store data securely, delete it when they no longer need it, and never use it for any purposes beyond what is described here or in their own privacy policies.

We enter into contracts with these service providers that require them to comply with Data Protection Laws and ensure that they have appropriate controls in place to secure your information.

Legal disclosure

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law (for example, to comply with applicable laws, regulations and codes of practice, or in response to a valid request from a competent authority); or in order to enforce our conditions of sale and other agreements.

Keeping your information safe

We take looking after your information very seriously. We've implemented appropriate physical, technical and organisational measures to protect the personal information under our control, both on and offline, from improper access, use, alteration, destruction and loss.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information using the internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information sent to us this way, we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted to our site.

Our websites may contain links to other sites. While we try to link only to sites that share our high standards and respect for privacy, we are not responsible for the content or the privacy practices of other sites. Please be aware that advertisers or websites linked from our site may collect personally identifiable information about you. This privacy statement does not cover the information practices of those websites or advertisers.

How long we hold your information for

We only keep your information as long as is reasonable and necessary for the relevant activity, which may be to fulfil statutory obligations.

Access to your personal information: you have the right to request access to a copy of the personal information that we hold about you, along with information on what we use it for, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it for, and whether it has been used for any automated decision-making. You can make a request for access free of charge. Please make all requests for access in writing, and provide us with evidence of your identity.
Right to object: you can object to our processing of your personal information where we are relying on a legitimate interest (or those of a third party) and there is something about your particular situation which makes you want to object to processing on this ground. You also have the right to object where we are processing your personal information for direct marketing purposes, including advertising measurement described above. Please contact us as noted above, providing details of your objection.
Consent: if you have given us your consent to use personal information (for example, for marketing or enhanced conversion matching), you can withdraw your consent at any time.
Rectification: you can ask us to change or complete any inaccurate or incomplete personal information held about you.
Erasure: you can ask us to delete your personal information where it is no longer necessary for us to use it, you have withdrawn consent, or where we have no lawful basis for keeping it.
Portability: you can ask us to provide you, or a third party, with some of the personal information that we hold about you in a structured, commonly used, electronic form, so it can be easily transferred.
Restriction: you can ask us to restrict the personal information we use about you where you have asked for it to be erased, or where you have objected to our use of it.
No automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effect: we do not use automated decision-making to make decisions about you that produce legal effects or similarly significantly affect you. Automated advertising measurement tools such as Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing help us understand and target our marketing, but do not make decisions about you individually.

Please note, some of these rights only apply in certain circumstances and we may not be able to fulfil every request.

Google Analytics

To understand how people use our site, and to discover areas on our site with issues, we use Google Analytics (GA4). Most websites use some sort of analytics program like this. The data it collects helps us see things like how many people visit our site, which country they are from, how many pages they visited, how fast our site loaded, and so on.

Where Google Signals or similar features are enabled, Google Analytics may also use data from users who are signed into their Google account to enable cross-device reporting and, where linked, to inform Google Ads audiences. Where this applies, the data is handled by Google under its own privacy policy and is not used by us to identify you personally. Content Management System

The Content Management System (CMS) that runs this website is fully secure. It uses a cookie when logging in and out and is essential for proper website operation. It is only set if you are a registered user, so for most people it is not set at all. User data is all anonymous.
