Ecotech Yorkshire delivered a major upgrade for Jubilee Court Care Home’s Gas hot water storage system, increasing energy efficiency from 68% to 95% with a new Lochinvar installation, all while maintaining uninterrupted hot water access throughout.

A future-proofed solution for growing demand

As the care home expanded, so did its hot water requirements. Ecotech Yorkshire installed larger, high-efficiency gas-fired water heaters alongside a custom water filtration and softening system, essential for performance in this hard water area.

Major system upgrade with zero operational downtime

To ensure residents experienced no disruption, the team kept the old system running while relocating and installing the new water heaters, flue system, and upgraded gas supply on the opposite side of the building, ensuring a seamless transition and compliance.

Key challenges and how we overcame them

As mentioned, one of the biggest challenges was maintaining uninterrupted hot water supply in a live care environment, where downtime simply wasn't an option. We overcame this by carefully sequencing the installation, leaving the existing system fully operational while relocating and installing the new water heaters and flue system on the opposite side of the building. We also upgraded the gas supply to meet higher demand and added a water softener to address hard water conditions. Coordination and timing were critical, and we ensured residents and staff were never affected during the switchover.
